New Gate
Qudus
Throughout history, societies have placed gates and then borders set by them as a representation of ownership, setting its own border there, and establishment of ownership by the war etc. These borders turn into more mental (boundaries) and abstract ones over time and settle in our minds. Gates and the borders they set on people remained a representation of all this confusion. It is ironic that the gate was a representation of enlightenment and liminality from one to another for human consciousness in early times. So there is a 'replacement, exchange' here.
